The past year has witnessed remarkable strides in our shared mission to advance pediatric endocrine care in India. At the heart of our progress lies a sense of community, purpose, and commitment to improving the lives of children with endocrine and metabolic disorders.

BUILDING COLLABORATIVE FRAMEWORKS: THE ISPAE WORKING GROUPS

In keeping with our vision of creating inclusive, multidisciplinary ecosystems of care, the Indian Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology (ISPAE) has launched dedicated working groups for ten key pediatric endocrine disorders. These working groups — ranging from disorders of growth and puberty to adrenal, thyroid, calcium-phosphate metabolism, and obesity — are envisioned as dynamic platforms to enhance awareness, develop care pathways, promote research, and empower families. By bridging the gap between clinicians and the community, we aim to create a well-informed, supportive environment for children navigating chronic endocrine conditions. We invite members of ISPAE to join these working groups and contribute to building a more compassionate and informed society.

EXPANDING TRAINING HORIZONS: FELLOWSHIP IN PEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGY

Another landmark achievement has been the initiation of a National Board of Examinations-accredited Fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology. This represents a historic step in standardizing and expanding specialized training across India. For years, the lack of structured training programs has limited the availability of pediatric endocrinologists in many parts of the country. Through this fellowship, we now have the opportunity to mentor the next generation of specialists and ensure that quality pediatric endocrine care becomes accessible across all regions. I thank the many educators, clinicians, and institutions whose tireless efforts have made this vision a reality.

MAPPING THE BURDEN: THE ISPAE TYPE 1 DIABETES REGISTRY

Data are the bedrock of effective policy and care delivery. I am pleased to announce the formalization of the ISPAE Type 1 Diabetes Registry, a critical step in understanding the true burden and geographic spread of type 1 diabetes mellitus in Indian children. This national registry will not only aid in epidemiological mapping but also support advocacy, funding, and policy formulation. We are actively seeking participation from centers across the country, including district hospitals, teaching institutions, and private practices. I urge all centers treating children with type 1 diabetes to participate in this initiative.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT: CELEBRATING WORLD THYROID DAY

ISPAE remains committed to public education and community engagement. Our celebration of World Thyroid Day this year was a resounding success, marked by outreach programs, awareness campaigns, media engagement, and school-based educational events. These efforts have contributed significantly to dispelling myths, encouraging early diagnosis, and promoting long-term care adherence in thyroid disorders, especially congenital hypothyroidism. I commend all members who led and participated in these impactful campaigns.

LOOKING AHEAD: THE BIENNIAL ISPAE CONFERENCE, NAGPUR 2025

I warmly invite all members and trainees to the Biennial ISPAE Meeting, scheduled to take place in Nagpur later this year. This meeting promises to be an enriching confluence of scientific exchange, clinical insights, research presentations, and professional networking. The event will feature national and international faculty, interactive workshops, and sessions for young investigators. I encourage early registration and active abstract submission to maximize this wonderful opportunity.

Our strength lies in our collective effort – clinicians, researchers, families, and advocates working together to ensure that no child with an endocrine disorder is left behind. I thank each of you for your unwavering dedication and invite you to remain actively involved in ISPAE’s journey of care, education, and transformation. Let us continue to dream, to collaborate, and to serve – with purpose and passion.

Warm regards,

Anurag Bajpai
